We are pleased to inform you that last week our school conducted a comprehensive Child Safety Audit, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to creating a safe physical environment for all students.

This audit aligns with the Child Safe Standards set by the Victorian Government, which outline key principles to ensure schools are proactive in promoting child wellbeing, preventing harm, and responding effectively to any concerns. These standards are central to our Catholic values and our responsibility to uphold the safety of every child in our care.

Throughout the audit, we reviewed our physical spaces and practices to identify any areas for improvement. Where concerns or gaps were noted, our Child Safety Team will be following up with targeted actions to ensure they are addressed promptly and thoroughly.

We would also like to extend our thanks to the students who participated in the audit process. Their insights, cooperation, and leadership on the day were invaluable and deeply appreciated.

Together, we continue to build a school community where every student feels safe, respected, and supported.

Proudly supporting Bullying No Way: National Week of Action

This year ĢƵ participated in the Bullying No Way: National week of action, 11 to 15 August 2025.

Bullying No Way Week is a commitment being made by thousands of schools and supporters across the country. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to bullying prevention. It gives us an opportunity to connect with students, staff and school communities to implement workable solutions to prevent bullying.

The theme for this year’s campaign is Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up.

It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.

Students can be bold, kind and speak up to support others being bullied. While trusted adults are there to support children and young people learn how to be kind to each other and report bullying.

This Bullying No Way Week, we’re asking you to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone and be proud to speak up against bullying.

For more information about Bullying No Way Week and bullying prevention, visit the Bullying No Way website.

VCE Food Studies Excursion last Thursday in Melbourne. We visited the Queen Victoria Market and then Ratio Cocoa Roasters. The Year 12 students were investigating food issues for their Unit 4 Written Report SAC. We were looking for examples of sustainability, ethics, food citizenship and food sovereignty at the market as part of our local food system.

We then took a quick tram trip up Sydney Road to the fabulous local chocolate maker Deb Makin @ Ratio Cocoa. We had a tour of the chocolate factory and then a tasting of the different aspects of this process.

We really had a terrific day and thank the students for their excellent engagement. We hope they have been inspired and enriched by this learning experience.

Bullying No Way Week 2025 – Theme: Be bold. Be kind. Speak up.

This year, Bullying No Way Week (11 – 15August) reminds us that it takes courage to spark change, and that bullying is everyone’s responsibility.

At school, we believe in creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone belongs and bullying is never accepted.

During Bullying No Way Week, we will be providing students with further education during Wellbeing time on:
– What bullying is and how to recognise it
– How to be bold and safely take a stand
– How to be kind and support others
– How to speak up and seek help when needed

We encourage all families to continue these important conversations at home. If you have any concerns or would like to report a case of bullying, please contact your young person’s Wellbeing and Community Leader so that we can work together to address the issue promptly and appropriately.

Together, we can create a community where everyone is celebrated, included, and safe from bullying behaviours.

Talking About Consent: A Vital Conversation for Every Young person

In today’s world, understanding and respecting consent is crucial for all people. As young people grow into adulthood, they face situations where clear communication, boundaries, and mutual respect are essential. At ĢƵ, we believe that fostering these values is part of nurturing confident, compassionate, and empowered individuals.

Consent isn’t just about romantic relationships—it’s about everyday interactions, personal space, and learning to say “yes” or “no” with confidence. It’s also about recognising when others are doing the same.

Parents and carers play a crucial role in guiding these conversations. The Australian Government’sConsent websiteoffers practical tools to help you talk with your teen about consent in a way that’s age-appropriate and values-based.

Explore the conversation guides here:

Let’s work together to ensure our young people are equipped with the knowledge and support they need to navigate life with self-worth and respect.

Welcome back to your 2025 Health and Wellbeing Kit!

As we enter semester 2, looking after your personal wellbeing is more important than ever – especially with the busy exam season approaching for many of us.

This edition’s focus is self-care: it isn’t just a trend – it actually works!

Hot drinks like tea or hot chocolate aren’t just comforting – studies show that warm beverages can significantly reduce stress and improve focus, soothe anxiety and make study sessions a little more bearable!

Journaling is another powerful tool – it helps organise your thoughts and improve mental clarity! Research has even linked regular journaling to reduced anxiety and improved problem-solving skills.

Let this be your reminder to slow down, breathe, and take care of you!

Welcome Back to Your Health and Wellbeing Kit!

We understand that this time of year can be stressful — with mid-year exams, tests, SACs, and the end of a long term approaching, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

While it is difficult to eliminate stress completely, we can build habits that help us manage it better and stay focused. One of the best ways to do this is by creating effective study routines that help you keep going, even when you’re tired or under pressure.

🌱 Try the Flora App

A helpful (and free!) tool to support your study routine is the Flora App.
Flora helps you:

  • Stay focused by growing virtual trees when you stay off your phone
  • Create to-do lists to keep tasks organised
  • Block social media and other apps during study sessions so you’re less tempted to scroll

It’s a fun and effective way to build healthy study habits — especially when distractions are everywhere.

Don’t Forget the Basics

  • Stay hydrated – it can significantly increase your focus and energy!
  • Move your body daily – a short walk, stretch, or workout can help reset your mind and reduce stress- A good way to do this is a quick dance workout, they are fun and effective! The Fitness Marshall is YouTube channel that has lots of dance workouts with varying difficulties and is a good start for those trying to add some more physical activity into their day. Linked below is a dance you can try out from their channel!

Stress might be part of school life, but with the right habits in place, you can keep your body and mind resilient, focused, and ready to take on challenges.
